We start today the category « inspirations », everything that unconsciously influence the creation of our dresses.
One could think that creativity comes like magic, but it needs to be constantly nourished. In the fashion industry, everything becomes a source of inspiration, art, music, architecture, news… A designer creates for others and not for himself, as would an artist.
Even if you can always feel his touch in his creations, he has to stay in tune with trends at all time, so that the final product, the dress, can be in your hands at the right time. A good creative needs to be open to the world and capture its mood.
I’d like to share this quote from Steve Jobs :
“Creativity is connecting things. When you ask a creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthetize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people.”
According to the fashion categories, luxury, medium and mass market, this phase of inspiration can take different paths. In the mass market for example, the Fashion trend forecast agency acts like a screen. We will tell you more about all the actors in the fashion creation process later on, we can’t decently say everything in one article. At Duplicata, on the contrary, we try to be the closest to things and events to resonate with the world. In this approach of transparency, the information we’ll share in this category will be as raw as possible.
As a first source of inspiration, we take you to the Contemporary Stained Glass exhibition at the Cité de l’Architecture in Paris. For those who couldn’t see it, here are some works of Serge Poliakoff (header), Alfred Manessier, Pierre Soulages, Gabriel Loire or Henri Guérin.
We’re curious to know what inspires you, so tell us more !
